Nominations for the prestigious GSDC Medal will be accepted until Wednesday 27 March, following an extension of the deadline.
The biennial medal awarded by the GSDC recognises and rewards best practice in the management of natural resources for the benefit of the Great Southern.
The award is open to people working in the sector and to those who volunteer their time and resources. Past recipients include farmers, environmental leaders and scientists. The 2016 GSDC Medal was awarded to internationally-recognised seagrass restoration pioneer Geoff Bastyan for his work in rehabilitating degraded seagrass beds.
Apart from the award of the sterling silver medal, the recipient is given a $5,000 grant to further their work. The two runner-up finalists each receive $1,000 grants to support their work.
