Trade Commissioners Explore Region’s Advantages
We welcomed WA Investment and Trade Commissioners Krista Dunstan GAICD, Chris Bandy, Juan Lu and Nicole Fasana to the Great Southern in August.
The Commissioners visited Katanning and Albany to gain a deeper understanding of the scale of opportunities and provenance stories in the region before heading out to their respective global postings.
Their visit was part of an Invest and Trade WA Regional Roadshow by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, led by Simon Millman MLA, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade, with Simone Spencer and Kristian Dawson.
The tour covered the South West and Great Southern regions.
Invest and Trade WA is the ‘shop front’ for businesses in the Great Southern to gain access to international markets and attract investment to the region.
During their visit, the delegates developed connections with businesses to help them go global, and inspected major industry and initiatives including Saline Bush Foods, WAMMCO International, the Albany Shellfish Hatchery and the Harvest Road aquaculture operation at Emu Point. They learned about the unique characteristics of Great Southern wine directly from our award-winning producers.
We partnered with the Shire of Katanning, the City of Albany and the Great Southern Wine Producers Association to host three valuable networking events with key stakeholders from the upper and lower Great Southern.
