The organisation secured a $50,000 grant through the GSDC to refurbish its Earl Street premises and supply technology and furnishings.

Member for Albany Rebecca Stephens MLA visited the centre on Friday 15 October to launch the project with Solaris Cancer Care founder Dr David Joske.

Ms Stephens said the centre would provide support and services to improve the quality of life of patients, carers and families.

Dr Joske said the centre’s complementary therapies provided valuable support for people with a cancer diagnosis and also gave a sense of empowerment and control over their experience of cancer.

Solaris Cancer Care Great Southern suspended its operations in March 2020 in response to COVID-19 and was later unable to resume services in the Albany Health Campus. The organisation secured new premises in Earl Street, Albany, which will enable a resumption of services.

The grant will support the replacement of ageing equipment and the refurbishment of the premises to a suitable standard.
