Search Starts for 14th GSDC Medallist
Nominations are now open for the 14th GSDC Medal, recognising best practice and innovative contribution to the management of our region’s natural resources. The winner of the 2021 GSDC Medal will receive a sterling silver medal and a $5,000 grant from the GSDC to further their work.
This year the nomination process has been streamlined by the introduction of a simple expression of interest form, making it easier to nominate a candidate. Three finalists will be shortlisted from the expression of interest process and will then be interviewed by a medal selection panel.
Nominations close on Friday 5 March and the presentation dinner will be held on 21 May 2021.
The GSDC Medal was instituted in 2002 to recognise the importance of sustainably managing the Great Southern’s natural terrestrial and marine resources for the benefit of current and future generations.
The 2019 GSDC Medal was awarded to Cranbrook farmer Ian Walsh, who has taken innovative approaches to addressing salinity on his property near Cranbrook, using salt-tolerant plants to reclaim land degraded by rising salt.
