We celebrated the partnerships on Friday February 11, when Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan officially launched the agreements at a function in Kinjarling / Albany.

More than 60 representatives from small to medium tourism and trade businesses, members of Australia’s South West, local and State Government and chambers of commerce from around the State gathered for the launch.
The trade partnership creates connections between the Great Southern, the WA Investment and Trade offices and Austrade’s global network in more than 45 countries. The aim is to boost and sustain growth in international exports across the world.

Initiatives in this sector are also supported by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).

Our partnership with Australia’s South West will enhance the region’s engagement with marketing and promotion, events, tourism product development, and destination development. The aim is to develop a more mature tourism product leveraged off our abundance of natural advantages.
Developing these partnerships in tandem offers opportunities to leverage each off the other, promoting visitor and trade buyer awareness of the Great Southern’s outstanding natural environment producing premium food and wine.

The launch of the partnerships came at the end of a two-day conference of TradeStart advisors, including GSDC and DPIRD staff. Participants from around Western Australia agreed on steps to coordinate trade development activities for efficient use of resources.
