Spring blooms in the Great Southern
Spring is bringing warmth and growth to the region, along with a rich program of events in the 2019 Great Southern Treasures Bloom Festival.
This year marks the ninth festival and the first under the new Great Southern Treasures identity.
Sixty events are on the program, which runs from 21 September to 20 October. The program includes wildflower exhibitions, walk and drive tours, open gardens, workshops, photography and art exhibitions, environmental awareness programs and market days.
The GSDC is a founding supporter and principal regional partner of Bloom. It currently supports the initiative with $50,000 of State Government funding over three years.
In related activities, the GSDC helped Great Southern Treasures to develop its new brand and website, which were celebrated at a launch in June.
A Regional Economic Development grant of $37,000 through the GSDC also supports a Great Southern Treasures project to build up the skills and capacity for tourism in the region’s inland shires.
