Pingrup’s redeveloped Community and Sporting Pavilion was officially opened on Friday 26 October with a community thankyou dinner. The GSDC supported the pavilion project with $150,000 of State Government funding.
The Commission’s support enabled the upgrade of the current pavilion, which was constructed in 1973, into a functional multi-use community facility. The pavilion’s main hall was extended and the kitchen and bar/serving areas were upgraded. The project included a new veranda overlooking the oval and race track, and the extension of changerooms to include a medical and rubdown room.
The pavilion will host a range of community and sports groups and be available to hire for meetings and events.
October’s official opening followed the completion of a major artwork on the Pingrup grain silos in September under the FORM Public Silo Trail project. Pingrup was one of six sites in regional Western Australia chosen for the silo trail.
