Great Southern businesses seized the opportunity to learn more about securing work on State Government contracts at a GSDC-supported roadshow in Albany on Monday 18 June.

The WA Industry Link roadshow was a joint presentation by the GSDC with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).

The Albany event was one of a series that started in June, giving regional businesses the chance to learn more about WA Industry Link initiative. The roadshow is touring the state, visiting all nine regions over the next few months.

The roadshow introduced Great Southern’s dedicated Local Content Adviser, Mr Gavin Ellis, to prospective regional suppliers and provided information on the advisory services available. Mr Ellis said it was encouraging to see the turnout of proactive local businesses wanting to connect with Government tendering opportunities, in particular the local Noongar business community.

“Government tendering is not new but positioning local content advisors as a support conduit to local business is,” Mr Ellis said. “Knowing what is coming up and being in a position to respond to tenders appropriately is all part of the package from a supplier’s point of view. Similarly, ensuring that Government tenders provide the opportunity for local businesses to be able to tender is also part of the focus.”

If you have any questions about the initiative, please contact Gavin Ellis on 9842 4888.
