The inaugural ‘Discover Great Southern’ series of events were held in Singapore in November, focused on securing the Great Southern’s place on the international stage as a producer of premium food and wines.

Supported by our partners from Wines of Western Australia, Great Southern Wine Producers Association, Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Tradestart, and Australia’s South West, we showcased Great Southern premium food and wine for media and buyers from Singapore looking to make Great Southern trade relationships.

More than 50 Great Southern winemakers, food producers, industry and local government officials made up the delegation travelling to Singapore to represent the region as a food and wine producing region. The Hon. Alannah MacTiernan MLC, Minister for Regional Development and Rebecca Stephens MLA, Member for Albany were amongst the group uniting to spread the word about Great Southern provenance.

The series of events comprised of a Cocktail Reception at the High Commissioner to Australia’s Residence, a Wine Showcase and Masterclass event at exclusive wine club 67 Pall Mall, and the international launch of Akoya Oysters by Leeuwin Coast.

During the successful mission, Great Southern producers were able to connect directly with potential international trade partners, and collaborate to increase brand awareness around culinary products, and the destination brand of the region.
