Frankland River Units Open New Options

Tourists and workers have new accommodation options in Frankland River following the opening of two units provided by the Shire of Cranbrook with the support of a $150,000 Regional Economic Development Grant through the GSDC. Agricultural Region MLC Shelley Payne officially opened the two units on Friday 3 December.

One of the units is suitable for a family group. The second unit was designed to accommodate visiting workers, comprising two rooms with ensuites and a shared kitchen and living area.

Ms Payne praised the initiative of the Shire of Cranbrook and the community in identifying the lack of accommodation as a constraint on the town.

The Shire contributed more than a matching amount to the project. It expects that the new accommodation will encourage more people to stay in the area and enable local businesses to more easily accommodate visiting workers.

Advantages also include the prospect of better access to local training opportunities through the Frankland River Community Resource Centre, which will be able to accommodate visiting trainers rather than have them travel to and from the town on the day they deliver courses.
