The ring road will link the existing major arterial roads and highways radiating from Albany, while bypassing urban areas and providing improved access to the Mirambeena Strategic Industrial Area.

Project Status

The Great Southern’s biggest infrastructure project, the Albany Ring Road, is officially under way and is expected to support 1,000 jobs and significant economic activity in the region until its completion in 2023. Local content initiatives through the GSDC are encouraging local businesses to earn a role as subcontractors on the $175 million project.

Decmil Southern was awarded the head contract in July and will include local providers among the subcontracted roles. GSDC Local Content Adviser Charlotte McIntyre established a register of potential subcontractors seeking to provide goods or services to the project. The list has been provided to Decmil and the GSDC will continue to promote local content where possible.
