Austrade is the federal government agency that helps Australian companies do business internationally. In the Great Southern region, Austrade and the Great Southern Development Commission jointly provide the TradeStart program, where local businesses can get access to advice and information on exporting and gain access to the worldwide network of Austrade market specialists.

Austrade directs many of its resources to assisting small and medium sized exporters and offers seminars for skill development, as well as one on one coaching and advice.

The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme is the Australian Government's principal financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. Administered by Austrade, the purpose of the scheme is to encourage small and medium sized Australian businesses to develop export markets. EMDG reimburses up to 50 per cent of expenses incurred on eligible export promotional activities, less the first $10,000.

Austrade also has excellent resources on many topics relevant to potential exporters. Check out the E-Business section on Austrade’s website for suggestions on how you can maximise your marketing potential.

It doesn’t stop there- register for the Export Update newsletter to get industry focused advice on international events and international buyer visits, or check the industry and country information section for ideas about how your product or service can meet an international need.

Most importantly, contact your local TradeStart Export Advisor to start your pathway to export success!

You can contact the TradeStart Export Advisor through the Contact us page of this website.
