Regional Grants Scheme
Round 2 of the Great Southern Regional Grants Scheme (RGS) will provide $3.5 million grant funding for the region in 2009-2010. The scheme is aimed at projects that will attract investment and increase job opportunities and help to improve the quality of life in regional communities.The Great Southern RGS comprises $3.4 million in contestable grants and $100,000 in small grants.
Objectives of the Regional Grants Scheme:
• Increase capacity for local strategic planning and decision-making
• Retain and build the benefits of regional communities
• Promote relevant and accessible local services
• Assist communities to plan for a sustainable economic and social future
• Enable communities to expand social and economic opportunities
• Assist regional communities to prosper through increased employment opportunities, business and industry development opportunities, and improved local services
RGS CONTESTABLE GRANTS PROGRAM FOR GRANTS OVER $10,000
For projects related to services, infrastructure and headworks
Applicants for contestable grants must read and adhere to the contestable grants guidelines and fully complete the contestable grants application form. Groups or individuals whose Round 1 applications were unsuccessful and who wish to apply again must submit new applications for Round 2. Applications will only be accepted by mail or personal delivery and must reach the Albany office of the Great Southern Development Commission by 4.30pm on Wednesday 10 February 2010.
RGS SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM FOR GRANTS UP TO AND INCLUDING $10,000
For projects related to services, infrastructure, events and headworks
As part of the RGS, $100,000 is available for small grants of up to $10,000. Small grants will be allocated until the available funds are exhausted. Applicants must read and adhere to the small grants program guidelines and fully complete the small grants application form. Applications will only be accepted by mail or personal delivery.
A series of submission dates applies to the small grants program:
• 24 November 2009
• 19 January 2010
• 30 March 2010
• 25 May 2010
Potential applicants should note the 2009-2010 RGS Small Grants Program will cease when the $100,000 fund is fully allocated and therefore there is no guarantee that the available funds will last until the later submission dates.
